A multi-media stage play about racial segregation in St. Louis.

“In the Shadows of Ferguson” originated with a 2017 live multi-media show exploring the planned racial segregation of the St. Louis area from Plessy v Ferguson in 1896 to the 2014 police killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. After the live performance, we developed the production into an interactive educational website and traveling exhibition. The project was produced in collaboration with the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina and funded by Carolina Performing Arts.

Watch the live show taped December 2017 at the University of North Carolina, featuring performances by Marcellus Buckley, Napoleon Williams and students in the Department of City and Regional Planning, interview with activists, artists, academics and elected officials from the St. Louis metro area.
